Upcoming Colour and Paint Trends for 2024

Trends – love ‘em or hate ‘em, as interior painters we can’t help but notice ‘em. Remember when everyone seemed to be painting one living room wall deep red? Not that we are telling you to follow trends, but if we had to pick what was trending last year we'd have to say the colour white. From off white, ivory, snow white, cotton, salt, lace; we cracked open so many different shades of white paint in 2023, it was almost comical. 

So, what does 2024 have in store for paint colour trends? The word on the street is…blue is going to be huge, along with earth tones and dark and moody colours. Even though the Pantone colour of the year is called Peach Fuzz (and it’s exactly what you're imagining) – this isn’t a colour we predict many people will be choosing for their walls. Throw pillows and other minor decor items, maybe, but it’s not a hue many would want on a larger scale, like all their interior walls.

Blues

If you perked up at the thought of a beautiful, coastal-inspired living space, then trendy blue may be where you want to look for inspiration. From the lightest of blue pastel to a brilliant and bold teal, blue swatches are predicted to be all the rage in 2024.

Nature-inspired

If nature-inspired hues are where your heart lies, the colour wheel is your friend. Take a look at the warm terracotta tones to olive green and sage, to earthy browns like chocolate or ochre. Get out into nature and find the colours that make you feel calm and collected. Bringing the outdoors inside and onto your walls can have big payoffs when it comes to finding your current colour style.

Dark & Moody

If you’re feeling bold, deep hues and the dark and moody can really elevate your style. Dark tones can make a north-facing or windowless room feel even more cozy. By embracing the low light of a north room instead of trying to fight it, you can create a sanctuary. If it’s a bedroom all the better. You might even get the best sleep of your life!

Our biggest tip for choosing a colour scheme for your home, is to throw trends out the window and find what truly inspires you. Take a look around you. Do big, blue skies thrill you? Does looking up through the forest canopy fill you with wonder? Is your happy place at the side of a cool stream, where the water makes the colour of wet rocks really stand out? Bring that feeling home and choose a colour scheme that makes your heart sing.

We encourage all our customers to really take the time to find the right paint colour for their space. Bring in all the colour swatches, look at them in different light at all times of day.
